Why would I need a 15m rope?

This is useful when you are positioning the clothes airer away from the wall or if you have high ceilings. In this case it’s advisable to also buy an additional double pulley.

When do I need an extra double pulley?

When you are positioning your airer in a larger room and away from the wall. The extra pulley will keep the rope close to the ceiling and provide a good angle down the wall to the cleat. Please see diagram on assembly instructions. (If you are using wall brackets you will need 3 wall brackets if you order an extra double pulley)

How do rubber grippers help?

These prevent your wooden slats from sliding. They are easily fitted to each end of every wooden slat by pushing them up to the metal rackends. You can even put them on the inside of the rack ends so they are less visible. Available in black only.

Wall Brackets?

Fix to the wall instead of the ceiling with our bespoke wall brackets. You would normally require 2 brackets but 3 if an additional double pulley is needed for larger rooms. For more information see the Wall Bracket TAB under the ADD TO BASKET. A black airer will come with black brackets as standard. A white airer will come with white brackets as standard. If you are ordering a coloured airer please let us know which you would prefer.

Delivery

We aim to dispatch all items within 3 working days using a National courier for our large items and Royal Mail 2nd Class for smaller items. During busy periods please allow a little longer as we are a small team.

For couriered items you will receive an email the day of dispatch to advise of the delivery date. Usually the couriers will then email you on the day with a time slot and tracking information. We encourage the use of a leave safe instruction where possible i.e ‘leave with neighbour or in porch if out’.

Wall Bracket

Wall Bracket:

  • Fix to the wall when ceiling fixing is not possible (as with suspended ceilings in modern homes)
  • Strong wooden ready assembled brackets in black or white
  • Suitable for our Popular and Clothesmaid airers
  • Your pulleys will be pre-fitted to these brackets when you order a Clothesmaid or Popular airer.
  • These brackets do NOT include wall fixings. This is because walls vary and require different fixings.
  • Normally you would use two brackets but you may need a third if you have an additional double pulley.

Wall Bracket Technical Specification:

  • Bracket Height: 33cm
  • Bracket Projection: 31cm
  • Bracket Width: 7cm (with 4 screw holes)
  • Wall Clearance: 10cm (from the wall to the inside slat)
  • Fully Retracted Height: 22cm for Popular and 28cm for Clothesmaid airers. This is helpful for door clearance.
  • Bracket Colour: Black, White. 
  • Wall Fixings Not Included: This is because walls vary and require different fixings. Ideally fix to solid masonry walls. We don’t advise fixing to stud walls unless noggins or suitable fixings can be used. If in doubt consult your builder/handyman.

The Clothesmaid is our original airer and comes with our name proudly cast into the centre of each rack end.
It is made from solid cast iron, handcrafted in the Victorian style with high quality pinewood slats to form a stable & robust drying platform for clothes. The wooden slats are finished to a high standard and are untreated to prevent any staining or discolouration of clothing.

The rack ends which are 39cm wide and 16cm high come in a choice of black or old English white with matching cast iron, ceiling mounted pulleys and cleat hook.
